Each five-car train will be formed of two powered cars and three trailer cars. The DMUs will have a maximum design speed of 110km/h for operation at 100km/h.

BR reintroduced passenger services in March 2016, and currently operates three services: an overnight three-class service between Lobatse, the capital Gaborone and Francistown, a daily international train between Francistown and Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and a commuter service on weekdays between Lobatse and Gaborone.
