The 472km Mombasa – Nairobi standard-gauge line is nearing completion and due to open in the second half of next year.
CRRC Qishuyan was awarded a contract earlier this year by China Road and Bridge Corporation to supply 56 locomotives for the line. The order comprises 43 DF8B freight locomotives, five DF11 passenger locomotives, and eight DF7G shunters.
