NAMIBIA's national railway TransNamib has signed a $US 10.1m contract with China Railway Materials Commercial Corporation for 90 tank wagons, which will be used to carry sulphuric acid.

The wagons will be delivered next July and are being procured for a 10-year contract awarded earlier this year by Dundee Precious Metal Tsumeb to carry sulphuric acid from Tsumeb to Arandis.

Earlier this month TransNamib ordered six diesel locomotives from GE Transportation to haul these trains.
