Public services began operating from Nurly Zhol station the following day, with the first passengers arriving on a service from Karaganda.

The opening of the station coincides with the start of the Expo 2017 international exhibition, which is being held in Astana.

According to Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), the 120,000m2 station will be used by 54 trains a day and has capacity to handle 35,000 passengers a day.
