The NDRC has approved the feasibility study for a 482km high-speed line linking the city of Nanning in Guangxi with Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province. The line will serve 14 stations and will have a design speed of 350km/h. The Yuan 75.8bn project budget includes Yuan 3.5bn for the acquisition of high-speed rolling stock and the line will take six years to build.

In Xinjiang, a 173.1km line will be constructed from Karamay to Tacheng near the border with Kazakhstan. The 12-station non-electrified line will be built for 120km/h operation and 4000-tonne freight trains.

The project has a budget of Yuan 3.71bn and construction is expected to take two-and-a-half years to complete.
