JAPAN’s Tokyu Corporation announced on March 17 that it has ordered three 10-car commuter EMUs for the 31.5km Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, which links Shibuya station in Tokyo with the city’s south western suburbs and Chuo-Rinkan in Kanagawa prefecture.

The 1.5kV dc overhead sets will be classified 2020 series in recognition of the 2020 Olympic Games and Paralympics, which will be held in Tokyo.

Styling has been carried out by Tokyo-based design agency Tanseisha.

The trains will be equipped with longitudinal seating, LCD passenger information systems, and CCTV. The fleet is due to enter service in spring 2018.
