The project involved the construction of a tunnel beneath the Huang Pu River and 12 new stations, including five interchanges with existing metro lines. A sixth station, the terminus at Luoshan Road will become an interchange with Line 16, which is expected to open at the end of this year.
The opening of the second phase takes the total length of Line 11 to 65km, making it the longest metro line in Shanghai.
