Commercial services are expected to begin on the initial 10km section between Peenya and Sampige Road by April 2013 using trains supplied by a consortium of BEML, Mitsubishi and Hyundai Rotem.
As part of Phase 1 of the metro project, the Green Line will be extended south to Puttenahalli by May 2014. Further extensions south to Anjanapura and north to Bangalore International Exhibition Centre are proposed as part of the Phase 2 expansion of the network.
