Toshiba's Transmission & Distribution Systems (TTDI), India, subsidiary will be responsible for implementing the project and will set up a new railway systems division to sell the products once production starts in April 2017. TTDI expects the plant to employ 100 people by 2020.

Toshiba says the new production facility will allow it to understand the local market better and improve the supply and maintenance of components as well as improving the company's competitiveness. TTDI expects the plant to expand as a manufacturing base to meet demand elsewhere in Asia and the Middle East.
