The new 153,000m2 facility complements Knorr-Bremse's existing Brazilian manufacturing plant in the Santo Amaro district of São Paulo city which according to executives was suffering from capacity limitations. Mr Oliver Erxleben, Knorr-Bremse Brazil CEO, says the new facility has increase the company's production capacity by 40%.

Knorr Bremse has a 70% market share of the Brazilian brake market with Itupeva located close to Hortolandia, Cabreuva and Jundiaí, the site of the production facilities of CAF, Bombardier and Progress Rail, among others.
