CRRC will receive the engines in China before the completed locomotives are delivered to Belgrano Cargo & Logistics. 70 engines have already been delivered to CRRC with completion of the order due this year.
It is the fourth major project between MTU and CRRC following orders for 232 engines for Transnet, South Africa, 48 for Kiwi Rail, New Zealand, and 20 for the Argentinian Ministry of Interior and Transport.
China has agreed increased financing to boost Argentina's railfreight network, and CRRC expects to establish a manufacturing and maintenance operation in Argentina.
