The $US 2.53bn Line 7 will connect the districts of Vitacura, Las Condes, and Providencia in the east with Quinta Normal, Cerro Navia and Renca in the west, serving a corridor which is home to around 1.37 million people. The line will run underground for its entire 24.8km length, serving 21 stations including interchanges with lines 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Santiago Metro says the new line will reduce morning peak demand by around 7000 passengers on the core section of Line 1.
