The information has been published by the Region of Hannover, Lower Saxony's regional transport authority, and Westphalia-Lippe Local Transport (NVR).

The concession accounts for about 9.1 million train-km per annum and concerns the following S-Bahn lines:

 

  • S1: Haste - Weetzen - Hannover - Wunstorf - Haste - Stadthagen - Minden
  • S2: Haste - Weetzen - Hannover - Wunstorf - Neustadt am Rübenberge - Minden
  • S3: Hildesheim - Sehnde - Lehrte - Hannover
  • S4: Hildesheim - Sarstedt - Hannover - Langenhagen - Bennemühlen
  • S5: Paderborn - Hameln - Weetzen - Hannover - Langenhagen - Hannover Airport
  • S6: Celle - Burgdorf - Lehrter curve - Hannover
  • S7: Celle - Burgdorf - Lehrte - Hannover
  • S21: Barsinghausen - Weetzen – Hannover, and
  • S51 Hameln - Springe - Hannover - Seelze.

Bids for this open competition must be submitted before August 1 2016. The concession will last for between 10 and 15 years, and the new operator will take over in two stages: December 2020 and December 2022.
