Under the contract, which was awarded following a public tender, the consortium will be responsible for the construction of 17 new bridges and the refurbishment of five bridges, a 649m-long tunnel, seven overpasses and three stations. The consortium will also carry out electrification works and install GSM-R and ETCS Level 2.
The upgrading of the line will increase the maximum speed to 160km/h for passenger trains and 120km/h for freight.
