The project involves upgrading the double-track section between Krakow Central and Krakow Mydlniki, construction of a second track on the branch from Mydlinki to Balice. The existing Balice station will be relocated closer to the terminal, while the only existing intermediate station at Lobzów will be rebuilt and three new stations will be constructed at Rolniczy University, Krakow Zakliki, and Krakow Krzyzowka.

Construction is due to start in the second half of this year and will take 18 months to complete.

Astaldi is already involved in a major project to extend and modernise the airport, which is used by around 8 million passengers per year.
