The trains are able to operate in diesel mode or under 3kV dc with each train consisting of three cars and an intermediate diesel powerpack module with an option to add a fourth car at a later stage. The trains have a maximum speed of 160km/h in e-mode, and 140km/h in d-mode, and have capacity for 178 seated passengers, 19 of which are tip-up seats. Delivery is set to conclude in 2018.

The contract includes staff training, technical documentation, spares and maintenance for five years. There is also an option within the contract for five additional trains, which will have to be exercised within 36 months of the delivery of the final vehicle. This would take the value of the contract to €94m.

This is Stadler's first order for its Flirt bi-mode variant. The traction equipment for the train has a maximum output of 2.6MW in e-mode, and 700kW in diesel mode.
