Three of the cranes, including the first unit, will have a maximum lifting capacity of 160 tonnes, while the remaining two will be capable of lifting a 100-tonne load.
DB Networks is investing €35m in new cranes and support vehicles to replace equipment dating back to the mid-1970s. Each new crane train will be formed of the Multi Tasker; match wagons and counterweight wagons supplied by Tratravagonka, Slovakia; and a crew coach equipped with a kitchen, workshop, and sleeping accommodation.
