Munich – Lindau upgrade delayed as costs rise Quintus Vosman

THE COST of electrifying the double-track line between München and Lindau is set to increase by more than a third, according to revised estimates, while the completion date of the project has also been put back from 2017 to 2019.

The increase from €210m to €298m is attributed to the provision of additional noise mitigation measures, costing some €30m, higher prices for materials, and the need to meet new standards for construction in permanent way, signalling, structures and level crossings.

Financing the investments is subject to an agreement between infrastructure manager DB Networks, the German and Swiss governments, and the state of Bavaria.
