OC'VIA, the concessionaire responsible for building and maintaining the Nîmes - Montpellier bypass has been granted an Authorisation for Commercial Operation (AMEC) for the 60km line and its connections to the conventional network.

Freight trains are due to begin using the new line on December 10.

The line will open to passenger services on July 8, reducing the journey time for Paris - Montpellier TGVs from 3h 25min to 3h 5min.

The line includes two new high-speed stations, Manduel-Redessan near Nîmes and Odysseum near Montpellier. The latter will be linked to the city centre via an extension of Montpellier light rail Line 1.
