The train has now moved to the Polish Railway Institute test track at Żmigród near Warsaw, where further 160km/h testing will take place.

PKP Intercity placed a Zlotys 1.32bn ($US 350m) order with Pesa in February 2014 for 20 eight-car trains in a deal which includes 15 years' maintenance by the manufacturer.

The 150m-long trains will seat 352 passengers in standard class and 60 passengers in first class accommodation.

The Dart fleet will enter service at the end of this year and will be deployed on the Jelenia Gora – Lodz – Warsaw – Bialystok/Lublin and Bialystok/Lublin – Warsaw – Katowice – Bielsko Biała routes.
