The train operated the 17.10 from Amsterdam Central to Rotterdam Central via HSL South, and made several more return trips that evening. Each passenger on board was served a celebratory Fyra cake to mark the occasion.

The Dutch Environmental and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) finally authorised the trains for public use on July 6, and the approval for operation in Belgium is expected soon.

The V250s were ordered as long ago as 2004, but their entry into service has been repeatedly delayed by technical problems and political wrangling over the ETCS Level 2 specification for HSL South.
