Cubic says NextAgent can effectively perform all the functions of a normal ticket office remotely, allowing one agent to serve multiple stations from a single location. The unit features a high-definition screen, which displays a live video link, allowing the passenger to talk to the agent throughout the booking process.

The machine includes an integrated camera and document scanner, which means the agent can view tickets and other travel documents. NextAgent can dispense and top up smart cards as well as issuing standard paper tickets and barcode tickets.

Cubic says the machine will allow station staff to remotely serve passengers at other stations during quiet periods, allowing resources to be used more effectively.

NextAgent will also be on show at the APTA Rail Conference in Philadelphia on June 2-3.
