Portare comprises Australian pension funds STC Pooled Fund (37.5%) and Sunsuper (25%) and China's government-owned State Administration of Foreign Exchange (37.5%), which manages foreign investments on behalf of China's central bank.

The change in ownership has been approved by Arlandabanan Infrastructure, the public company that owns the 20km double-track link to the airport, following a review of the transaction.

MEIF took over ownership of A-Train in 2004 when it was experiencing financial difficulties. Since then A-Train has invested in the refurbishment of the Arlanda Express train fleet and opened the rail link to other operators.

The Arlanda Rail Link carried nearly five million passengers in 2013, 3.3 million of them on Arlanda Express services. Around 200 trains a day serve Arlanda, including more than 80 Arlanda Express services.
