The aim of 16-page handbook (PDF link) is to set out how traffic flows can be maintained at the highest possible level in the event of international disruption.
The handbook provides a definition of an international disruption and goes on to outline protocols on business continuity management, communications, pre-defined procedures and best practices, and the roles and responsibilities of individual stakeholders.
The measures outlined in the handbook will be applied by infrastructure managers and the Rail Freight Corridors (RFCs) from the start of the 2019 timetable in December. The RFCs will now start working with the infrastructure managers to define rerouting overviews and operational scenarios.
