The EOT devices transmit real-time vital information from the rear of the train to the locomotive cab which is fitted with a locomotive head-of-train device (LCU) to ensure that the train is intact.

Earlier this year Progress Rail acquired the intellectual property of Wise Electronics in Maryland which included LCU and EOT devices.

“Compared with other similar technologies, our Guardian EOT features a more modern design with improved reliability, ergonomics, lighter weight and advanced power management,” says Mr Paul Denton, Progress Rail’s senior vice-president, marketing and analytics. “Its end-of-train coupler mount makes the Guardian EOT faster and safer to apply.”
