The EC250 only reached a top speed of 100km/h, but the tests proved it could operate successfully in the tunnels climatic conditions.

Tests on the Velim circuit will involve gradually increasing the speed of the train, and is part of the commissioning procedure, pre-commissioning safety inspection, and network approval for the train. Further testing will take place in Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, where the train will operate.

The 202m-long train was presented to the public in Bussnang, Switzerland, in May, and is designed with a focus on comfort, highlighted by its low-floor access and areas for people with restricted mobility.

There are plug sockets at every seat, large luggage racks, and a 3G/4G mobile communications amplifier.
