Hyundai Rotem will be responsible for design, production and maintenance of the train, while Korail will manage test operations on the Korean high-speed network. KRRI will be responsible for measuring and evaluating the performance of the 300km/h train.

Under the MoU, the development and production of two prototype cars is due to be completed by the end of next year. The MoU envisages that the articulated train will be available for commercial operation by 2023.

Korail says the train will seat up to 1404 passengers.
