With the start of the new timetable on December 10, NTV was able to increase the number of daily services on its network from 56 to 68. Train frequency will be stepped up again in 2018 to 90 trains per day when delivery of the Evo fleet has been completed.

The 17 ETR 675 Evo trains are being added to NTV’s 25 AGV 300km/h trains also supplied by Alstom. “The 17 new Italo Evo trains will increase our fleet by 65%,” says NTV’s chairman, Mr Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. “They will allow more services, more connections and the chance to recruit new young staff, as well as have new lines and new stops. This a great challenge that we will face with great enthusiasm, as we have always done.”

Services on the core Rome - Milan route will be stepped up in 2018 from 40 to 50 per day, with trains running at 30-minute intervals in the afternoon for the first time.

NTV will launch a new route next year from Turin via Milan and Verona to Venice, with some trains extended to Trieste. It will also run trains to Bolzano for the first time.
