CRB submitted a bid of $US 347.56m for Construction Package 4, well below CHSRA's anticipated range of $US 400-500m.
CHSRA says it received proposals from five bidders on November 25, which were scored up to 30% on technical merit and 70% on price.
Construction Package 4 covers a section of the line from a site 1.6km north of the Tulare/Kern county boundary to Poplar Avenue north of Bakersfield.
The contract includes construction of at-grade, retained fill, and elevated sections of the alignment, relocation of a 6.4km section of the existing BNSF line, construction of waterway and wildlife crossings, and associated road works.
