The introduction of Frecciarossa combined with upgrading a 180km section between Bologna and Foggia for 200km/h operation has enabled Trenitalia to reduce the journey time between Milan and Bari, a distance of 869km, from 7h 43min to 6h 30min.
Since the introduction of Frecciarossa 1000 trains on Milan – Rome services in June, Trenitalia has been able to redeploy ETR 500 trains on the Venice – Rome – Naples – Salerno route, and now the Milan – Bari line.
