The contract encompasses track, electrification, telecommunicationss, Scada, signalling, a control and maintenance centre, and stations.

Stadler Pankow has also been selected for a contract to supply 14 low-floor LRVs. Stadler will supply its Variobahn LRV for the project.

Comsa submitted an offer of DKr 1.2bn ($US 180m), while Stadler’s bid is worth Dkr 21m. Odense Letbane says the procurement has demonstrated that the line can be built within the allocated budget, albeit using part of the project’s 30% reserve.

The contracts must now be submitted for approval by the state, regional and municipal governments before they can be signed.

Ten Danish construction companies have been selected to participate in tenders for the seven civil works packages and these will be awarded between spring 2017 and early 2018.

The line is due to open in 2020 and services will operate at 10-minute headways between 05.00 and 01.00 with a 42-minute journey time between the two termini. Weekday ridership on the 26-station line is forecast to be around 34,000 passengers.
