First Flexity Vienna LRV begins testing Wiener Linien

A few days before Christmas the first Flexity low-floor tram for Wiener Linien was delivered the short distance from Bombardier’s Vienna plant to the operator’s Simmering depot, where initial testing has been carried out.

The type D vehicle, which carries the running number 301, will begin trials on Vienna’s extensive tram network at the beginning of February with the aim of securing authorisation for passenger operation in the autumn.

Wiener Linien awarded Bombardier a €562m contract in June 2015 to supply and maintain 119 Flexity vehicles with options for up to 37 more.
