The 13.4km Dongbu Line will serve 16 stations, connecting the Seongdong-gu and Nowon-gu districts in Seoul. The project is due to be completed in 2024 and will provide a link to the northeastern part of the Korean capital, where traffic congestion often occurs due to underdeveloped infrastructure.

The 73km/h driverless trains will be fitted with air-conditioning designed to manage the concentration of carbon dioxide in the vehicle at an appropriate level for passenger comfort.
