The 14.3km line is due to reopen by the end of 2016 and track will be realigned to run on the central reservation of the road. Services will be extended through to the city centre and will be operated by modern LRVs.

CMC has awarded Alstom a €40m contract to design, supply, and install track, electrical traction substations, signalling, and telecommunications for the project. Alstom will use its Appitrack tracklaying system and will also equip the line with its harmonic and energy saving optimizer (Hesop) reversible substation, which allows around 99% of braking energy to be recovered and reused.
