MPK Poznan announced on January 23 that it has selected local supplier Modertrans for a contract to supply 50 low-floor LRVs.

The tender was based on a maximum score of 80 points for price and 20 points for technical features.

Modertrans submitted an offer of Zlotys 397m ($US 97.8m) for the contract to supply 20 bidirectional and 30 unidirectional vehicles, scoring 96.49 points.

Pesa came in second place with a bid of Zlotys 387m and a score of 95.62 points, followed by Stader Poland/Solaris with a Zlotys 462.1m bid and 85.66 points.

The order will be the first for Modertrans’ new Moderus Gamma low-floor LRV, which was unveiled at the company’s Poznan plant in November 2016.

MPK Poznan already operates a fleet of 44 unidirectional Modertrans Moderus Beta trams and placed a further order for 10 bidirectional vehicles last April.
