THE first Tango NF2 LRV for the standard-gauge tram network in Ostrava arrived in the Czech city on April 23 after completing its road journey from Stadler’s Siedlce plant in eastern Poland.

Ostrava Public Transport (DPO) awarded Stadler a Koruna 1.4bn ($US 67m) contract in January 2017 to supply 30 of the two-section unidirectional LRVs, with an option for 10 additional vehicles.

Each 24.9m-long LRV will accommodate up to 188 passengers, 61 of them seated. The trams are equipped with air-conditioning, wide doors and a wheelchair ramp.

The remainder of the fleet is due to be delivered by June.
