The 22-station 20km line will link Port Credit Go Transit station in Mississaugua with the Gateway Terminal at Steeles Avenue in Brampton, with connections to Go Transit’s Milton and Lakeshore West commuter lines, a maintenance and storage facility for light rail vehicles at Highway 407, and procurement of a fleet of light rail vehicles and as well as operation of the system.

The Huntario LRT project will seek to double the corridor’s transit capacity, and look to improve travel times.

The RFQ is the first step in the procurement process to select a contractor team to deliver the project. Metrolinx will evaluate submissions to prequalify project teams with sufficient experience and financial capacity to deliver the project. Qualified project teams will be invited to respond to a request for proposals in early 2017.
