The concession will combine bus and light rail services into an integrated metropolitan system which includes the introduction electronic fare collection.

Alckmin also took delivery of the first of 19 LRVs being manufactured in Brazil by the Vossloh-TTrans consortium. Delivery of the fleet is expected to be completed in March 2016. The first three LRVs, which have been in operation on the initial 61.km section since April, were built by Vossloh in Spain. The seven-section LRVs are 44m long and 2.65m wide and can accommodate up to 400 passengers.

In addition, Alckmin authorised Reais 134m ($US 42.85m) for additional works to complete the remaining sections of the 11.2km first phase which will extend services west from São Vicente to Barreiros and east from Pinheriro Machado to Porto.
