Škoda wins Turkish LRV order

ŠKODA Transportation has been awarded a contract worth around €104.7m to supply 60 low-floor LRVs to the Turkish city of Konya, beating off bids from Astra Arad, Bombardier, CAF, CNR Tangshan, and Pesa.

Konya currently operates a fleet of more than 20 Duewag GT8 high-floor trams which were acquired from Cologne in the 1990s.

The contract represent's Škoda's first order from a Turkish customer for complete light rail vehicles, although Škoda Electric has supplied electrical equipment for trams used in Istanbul.
