StH awarded Vossloh a €30m contract in January 2014 to supply 11 of the 32m-long five-section bi-directional vehicles, which accommodate up to 183 passengers.

The LRVs were designed and built at the Vossloh Rail Vehicles (now Stadler Rail) plant in Albuixech, Spain. Vossloh Kiepe Austria provided power, electrical, vehicle control and air-conditioning systems and will maintain the fleet for 16 years.

Eight of the vehicles have been ordered for the Stadt Regio Tram project, which involves linking the Gmunden tram network with the Vorchdorf - Gmunden line to enable through operation between Vorchdorf and Gmunden town centre. The connection between the two lines is due to open in July.

The remaining three vehicles will operate on the Vöcklamarkt – Attersee line.

The fleet will be maintained at a new €6m depot at Vorchdorf, which is equipped with two metre-gauge tracks, one standard-gauge track (for trains used on the Lambach - Vorchdorf line) and one dual-gauge track.
