Over the next seven years Cowi will be responsible for carrying out environmental impact assessments, design, tendering and contracting support, and will also advise the municipality on construction and operation.
The initial 14km line from Tarup Centre to the city centre, Odense university hospital, and Hjallese is due to open in 2020.
In June the municipality selected Parsons Brinckerhoff to assist with project management and provide strategic and economic advice on the project. With a pre-feasibility study now complete, concept design is underway and an environmental impact assessment will be submitted to the Danish Transport Ministry at the end of next year. Construction contracts are due to be tendered in 2015.
