The 15.5km Line 2 runs northeast from the city centre to Escautpont, following the route of the former heavy-rail line through Fresnes sur Escaut to reach Vieux Condé. The 21-station line is single-track between Anzin and Vieux Condé, with passing loops at stations.

Commercial services are due to begin in February, with trams running at 10-minute intervals at peak times. The line will be operated by a fleet of 10 33m-long Alstom Citadis 302 low-floor LRVs.

Local transport authority Siturv is currently considering an extension of the line south through the city centre to Rue de Mons.
