The contract comprises a firm order for 123 vehicles with a single option for 90 more.
The firm order will comprise 85 bidirectional and 18 unidirectional vehicles, which will be 33m-long, together with a batch of 20 24m-long LRVs. The option is exclusively for 33m-long vehicles with 45 unidirectional and 45 bidirectional units.
Bids will be scored according to price (53%), level of maintenance activity in the first 1 million-km (20%) energy consumption (9%), impact on track (5%) and low-floor area (3%).
Deliveries will begin at the end of the second quarter or early in the third quarter of 2019 and the main order will need to be completed by April 2021. Delivery of vehicles from the option would need to be completed by the middle of 2023.
