Alpha Trains receives Euro 4000 locomotives from Stadler

EUROPEAN rolling stock leasing company Alpha Trains has taken delivery of six Euro 4000 diesel-electric locomotives from Stadler’s Valencia plant for operation on cross-border freight services between Spain and Portugal.


Six locomotives have been supplied of which four will be used under a long-term lease with Medway Transport & Logistics - this is Alpha Trains’ first contract with Medway.

The 1668mm-gauge six-axle units are powered by EMD engines and have a maximum speed of 120km/h with a range of up to 2000km. They are equipped with Spanish and Portuguese signalling and train radio systems.
