The six-axle TEM28 has a nominal output of 895kW and BMZ says the modular design principles it has adopted for the locomotive have minimised development and production costs while simplifying maintenance and repair for the operator.

The cab has been designed to offer improved all-round visibility and more comfortable conditions for the train crew.

Trials are due to be completed by October and BMZ says it will start series production following the conclusion of the test programme.
