CD Cargo signed a contract with Siemens on April 13 for five Vecton MS locomotives which will be equipped with ETCS and certified for operation in all countries bordering the Czech Republic, together with Hungary and Romania. The first locomotive will be unveiled at the Czech Rail Days exhibition in Ostrava in June and deliveries will be completed by the end of the year.

CD Cargo plans to use the160km/h 6.4MW locomotives on automotive trains between Slovakia and Germany, as well as other cross-border workings.

Leasing company Alpha Trains has ordered six Vectrons for German open-access railfreight operator and Trenitalia subsidiary TX Logistik. The ETCS-equipped locomotives will be certified for operation in Germany, Austria, and Italy, and the first units are due to be delivered early next year.
All 11 locomotives will be assembled at Siemens' Allach plant in Munich.
