THE final four out of a total of 11 electric freight locomotives have been delivered to Uzbekistan Railways (UTY) by a consortium of CNR Dalian Locomotive and Rolling Stock together with China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (CNTIC).
The $US 44.4m contract was funded by a loan of $US 42.17m from China's Eximbank with UTY funding the balance. The loan is for 20 years with a five-year grace period.
The locomotives form part of UTY's 2011-2015 plan to modernise its motive power and rolling stock fleet.
