THE first of two electric locomotives ordered by Serbian state electricity company Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has been delivered by Chinese manufacturer CRRC Zhuzhou.

The 140km/h 7MW 25kV ac electric locomotives will be used on EPS’ network between the Nikola Tesla power station and the Kolubara power station in Belgrade.

EPS says the 120-tonne locomotives will have double the power of the existing fleet while consuming less energy and emitting less noise. The contract is valued at around €4.4m.
