The contract is the first Iranian locomotive order with a Chinese supplier since the lifting of trade sanctions on Iran last year. CRRC Ziyang will supply 15 3MW passenger locomotives, which will be capable of 160km/h, and 15 2.43MW freight locomotives, which will have a maximum speed of 100km/h.
The locomotives will be delivered by 2018.
CRRC previously supplied five GK1C diesel shunting locomotives to an Iranian customer in 2008.
