The ETCS Level 2-equipped locomotives have already been introduced on Amsterdam – Rotterdam Intercity Direct services and they will also be used on Eindhoven – The Hague services from December 2015 operating with refurbished NS ICR coaches.
The locomotives are equipped to operate on the standard Dutch 1.5kV dc electrification, the 25kV ac system used on the HSL South high-speed line and the Belgian (3kV dc) and German (15kV ac) systems, although NS does not currently have any plans to operate the fleet outside the Netherlands.
